The upcoming Nio Firefly, have a been spotted again, this time the side body of the EV was snapped. The Body suggested that i can be a small SUV, or a Crossover.
Car blogger @电动星球小新 shared the image on Weibo today, noting that there have been a lot of spy shots of the Firefly model lately, as it’s due to make its official debut next month.
“Nio previously invited some media to see the car. The exterior is said to be bolder than current models on the market, with a very recognizable front and rear face, and an overall car size somewhere between the Mini and the (Volkswagen) ID.3,” the blogger wrote.
“This reminds me of a great comment by an internet user: more Mini than Smart, more Smart than Mini,” the blogger added, suggesting that Firefly’s first model will have a better level of intelligence than Mini vehicles.
Nio announced on November 20 that its third brand, internally codenamed Firefly, was officially named Firefly and its first product will bear the same name as the sub-brand.
Nio said that the Firefly brand would be officially launched on December 21 during Nio Day 2024, with the first model arriving in the first half of 2025.
Firefly’s approach to naming its initial model after the brand is inspired by BMW’s sub-brand Mini, as well as Geely and Mercedes-Benz joint venture Smart, both of which named their first models after their respective brands.
Nio will launch a new product cycle under the Onvo and Firefly brands next year, leading to faster growth, according to management in a November 20 results call.
