BYD Sends three versions Of Sealion 7 To Europe

BYD announced its mid-size SUV Sealion 7 back in October during the Paris Auto Show 2024 and while it did confirm it’s coming to the European market eventually it didn’t reveal the details of that version. The car was now officially introduced to the UK, revealing it will come in three versions – Comfort, Design and Excellence. Eart this year the EV was leak to have two versions but was later confirmed to have three.

Starting with the Comfort option, which is the base model, it runs on an 82.5 kWh battery and a single motor, outputting 303 hp. The rated WLTP range is 298 miles.

The Design variant adopts the same battery but adds another electric motor for an AWD setup totaling 514 hp. The range drops slightly to 282 miles. The DC charging rate is 150 kW for both versions, giving you 80% charge from 10% in 32 minutes.

The top version is called Excellence is also all-wheel drive, but adds a bigger 91.3 kWh battery, while the two motors are the same as on the Design variant. That gives the Excellence an estimated range of 311 miles. The DC charging is also higher, at 230 kW, going from 10 to 80% in 24 minutes.

The BYD SeaLion 7 is a five-door SUV with seating for five, based on the e-platform 3.0. It measures 190.2 x 75.8 x 63.8 inches (4830 x 1925 x 1620 mm) with a wheelbase of 115.4 inches (2930 mm). The suspension system features a front double wishbone and rear multi-link setup, with 19- or 20-inch wheels. The trunk provides 17.7 ft³ of storage, expandable to 62.5 ft³. Towing capability is included, though there is no front trunk.

The heat pump is standard across all configurations, along with the V2L function, which lets you use the car’s battery to power appliances.

Inside, the Sealion 7 has a rotating 15.4-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster. The front seats are electrically adjustable and ventilated on all trims.

The SUV offers heated and ventilated front seats, a fixed panoramic glass roof, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety features include a comprehensive airbag system (front, side, rear, head, and front knee airbags), and a suite of driving aids such as Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Cross Traffic Alert and Brake (front and rear), Traffic Sign Recognition, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Door Open Warning.

This model is designed for the European market and is also known as the BYD Sea Lion 07. It includes a digital video recorder.

BYD has yet to disclose prices and availability dates, but they should be announced by the end of this year.
