DS Automobiles unveils DS N°8 All New electric SUV Coupé

The DS N°8, an SUV coupé that is entirely electric, is DS Automobiles’ newest flagship car. The DS Aero Sport Lounge concept car served as the inspiration for the DS N°8’s sleek, aerodynamic shape and eye-catching appearance. The vehicle’s remarkable range of up to 466 miles on the WLTP cycle is a result of its low drag coefficient of 0.24, which is the result of its emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency. DS claims a motorway range of more than 311 miles, which is even more astounding.

The brand’s first car created only for electric power is the DS N°8. Additionally, a new name convention is introduced. The official press release states that the “°” symbol is reminiscent of a diamond and represents the brand’s DNA, while the “N” stands for elegance and timeless style. That is a lot of activity in a short name.

DS N°8 electric SUV Coupé Features

The external design of the DS N°8 is an example of French luxury. The N°8, which is 4.82 meters long, 1.90 meters wide, and 1.58 meters high, commands attention on the road. Its sculpted surfaces and flowing lines improve its aesthetic appeal while deftly enhancing its aerodynamic performance.

The avant-garde DS Luminascreen lighted grille and three-module headlamps with a recognizable Clous de Paris design are featured on the front end. The vehicle’s width is highlighted by the V-shaped DS Lightblade daytime running lights that are built into the bumper. However, elaborate names for car parts are not going away.

A distinctive signature is provided at the back by the vertical LIGHT BLADE tail lights, which are distinct from the front Lightblade items. The extended dual-tone paint job, which honors traditional French coachbuilding methods and adds a touch of refinement, features a deep black roof that extends onto the bonnet and grille.

The DS N°8’s interior is basically a long list of things that are associated with peace and relaxation. The cabin is filled with premium materials like Nappa leather and brushed metal, while cutting-edge technology is skillfully incorporated into the layout.

A feeling of calm and space is produced by the pushed-back dashboard. Pearl stitching on the dashboard and armrests, as well as Clous de Paris embossment on the steering wheel and air vents, enhance the opulent appearance. The door knobs’ dull function is given a futuristic touch by the inventive Inner Lightblade vertical light signatures.

With its adjustable side bolsters and high-density foams, the chairs are expected to be comfortable. The front seats have a massaging feature in addition to being heated and cooled. With seats angled at a comfortable 30-degree slant, rear passengers have plenty of headroom and legroom.

The driver receives a new X-shaped steering wheel and a 10.25-inch instrument display with dynamic “Digital ART” content. The DS Iris System 2.0, which can be operated by touch or speech, is accessible through a 16-inch center touchscreen.

The Stellantis Group’s STLA Medium platform, upon which the DS N°8 is based, has been tuned to support a sizable battery pack with a maximum capacity of 97.2 kWh. Three electric powertrains will be available to buyers: FWD Long Range with 245 horsepower (280 horsepower with temporary boost) and a 97.2 kWh battery, AWD Long Range with 350 horsepower (375 horsepower with temporary boost) and a 97.2 kWh battery, and FWD with 230 horsepower (260 horsepower with temporary boost) and a 74 kWh battery.

The FWD models take 7.7/7.8 seconds to reach 62 mph, whilst the AWD Long Range model does so in 5.4 seconds. The maximum speed for all models is 118 mph. With its 160 kW fast charging capability, the DS N°8 can charge from 20% to 80% in just 27 minutes. Standard onboard AC charger capacity is 11 kW; a 22 kW variant will be available later.

The DS N°8 is loaded with cutting-edge technology that improves convenience, safety, and comfort. For a comfortable and seamless ride, an active suspension system with camera control adjusts to road conditions in real time. The windscreen is projected with vital information from an augmented reality head-up display. In low light, an infrared camera system may identify animals and pedestrians. In order to avoid blinding other drivers, intelligent headlights adjust to the driving conditions. Along with the standard lane-keeping assistance, auto-parking, lane change, and other advanced ADAS functions, there is also a full suite of other features.

A robust and user-friendly infotainment system with voice control, smartphone connection, and connected navigation is just one of the many connected services available on the DS N°8. Additionally included are necessary services like over-the-air updates, remote maintenance, and SOS & ASSISTANCE. Advanced features including plug-and-charge capability, battery preconditioning, and in-car EV routing are available with the optional Connect Plus Pack.

DS N°8 SUV Coupé Price

The DS N°8 stands apart in the crowded electric car market because to its impressive range, cutting-edge technology, and eye-catching design. For those seeking an opulent and effective EV without sacrificing performance or flair, it offers an intriguing substitute. With starting prices of just under $67,000 for the FWD model, $72,100 for the FWD Long Range variant, and $94,300 for the top-of-the-line AWD LR trim, the DS N°8 is anticipated to make its European debut in mid-2025.
