IM L6 EV Comes with semi-solid battery option

Shanghai-based IM Motors, the electric vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp., has officially launched its latest offering, the IM L6 electric sedan. The IM L6 is among the first EVs to offer a semi-solid battery option.

IM L6 Price

The IM L6 is available in five distinct variants, with prices starting at RMB 199,900 (approximately $30,400) after a limited-time discount. The higher-end models, equipped with larger batteries and faster charging capabilities, are priced at RMB 239,900 ($33,150), RMB 255,900 ($35,350), RMB 305,900 ($42,250), and RMB 325,900 ($45,000), respectively.

The entry-level model is equipped with a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a CLTC range of 404 miles. The mid-range models feature 83 kWh and 100 kWh batteries, with ranges extending up to 528 miles according to the CLTC standard.

The top-tier model is based on a cutting-edge “quasi-900V” platform, promising impressive charging times. This first-generation semi-solid-state battery pack, developed by IM Motors and the SAIC-backed QingTao startup, offers 133 kWh of capacity and is CLTC-rated at over 620 miles of range. Additionally, it can add 249 miles of range in just 12 minutes of charging.

The IM L6 offers decent performance too. The single-motor rear-wheel drive variants deliver up to 216 kW (290 horsepower) of power, while the dual-motor all-wheel drive model boasts an impressive 379 kW (510 horsepower). That one can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 2.74 seconds. The EV stands at 4.93 m long, 1.96 m wide, and 1.47 m tall.

IM L6 Availability

IM L6 regular variants are scheduled to commence at the end of May. The most anticipated variant, equipped with a semi-solid-state battery, will begin deliveries in October. IM Motors has already received over 29,000 orders for the L6.
