Smart has just released electric crossovers, specifically the Smart #5 crossover. Smart has yet to publish power estimates, but the #5 has a 100 kWh 800V battery pack, providing an amazing range of over 460 miles in the CLTC cycle. The 400kW charging support enables it to charge from 10% to 80% in under 15 minutes.
Smart #5 Models
Although Smart has not officially verified the powertrain possibilities, a listing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicates a rear-mounted engine with outputs of 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 358 hp (267 kW). There will also be dual-motor all-wheel drive systems, which combine a 221 hp (165 kW) front-mounted electric motor with either a 358 hp (267 kW) or 416 hp (310 kW) rear motor.
The Smart #5 has striking rectangular headlights joined by a narrow lit strip, and the Summit Edition adds a touch of toughness with a roof-mounted light bar and side stairs. The side ladder may feel a touch too much, but it allows for quicker access to the roof carrier.
Interior
Inside, leather seats, oak wood trim, and zero-gravity front chairs that recline up to 121 degrees offer a wonderfully luxurious environment. The ambient lighting system, which has 256 colors, and the 21-speaker Sennheiser audio system add to the luxury experience.
Inside, there is a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, two 13-inch monitors, and a 25.6-inch head-up display. The package includes a lion avatar named Leo and a cutting-edge AI voice assistant that can answer natural language questions.
Heated seats, adjustable backrests, and an electric sunshade provide excellent rear passenger comfort. The airplane-style LED reading lights, along with a “first-class” option and a comfort mode that gives more legroom, guarantee that everyone on board has a nice voyage.
The seats may be folded down to form a king-size, queen-size, or single-sleeping configuration. There are 34 storage spaces throughout the interior, a frunk for additional storage, and a large cargo area that can accommodate up to 1,530 liters of luggage when the rear seats are folded.
The Smart #5 is poised to disrupt the electric SUV industry with its blend of elegance, technology, and utility. It’s a strong evidence that Smart is more than simply a city car brand; it’s a significant player in the luxury electric vehicle category.
