XPeng to launch an EREV platform in pivot For More Range

XPeng has only released entirely electric vehicles throughout its entire existence, but its current announcement indicates that it intends to expand. The company hopes to launch a groundbreaking EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) system that is expected to transform the market. While EREVs are popular in China but have a small market share overseas, Xpeng intends to change that.

The new architecture promises to address the most frequent faults with present EREVs, such as limited electric-only range, underwhelming performance, and extra noise produced by the engine while charging the battery.

Xpeng claims to be able to develop a car with a combined range of 870 miles and a battery range of about 267 miles. Furthermore, the battery pack will be 5C, allowing for 10-80% charging in under 12 minutes with Xpeng’s S5 superchargers.

The uphill performance issue will be addressed by implementing AI algorithms that pre-heat the engine in steep terrains when the battery is low.

The EREV system is known as Kunpeng Super Electric System, and the business intends to release global models based on it. EREVs are expected to find a home in areas with underdeveloped charging networks and extremely cold temperatures, when battery efficiency drops drastically.
