The Chinese MIIT’s recent regulatory filings indicate fresh additions to BYD’s rapidly expanding NEV portfolio. The models are the all-electric Sealion 05, hybrid Seal 05, and hybrid Seal 07.
The Sealion 05 EV will be the second 100% electric vehicle in the Sealion line, following the Sealion 7. This five-seat SUV has dimensions of 178 inches in length, 73.2 inches in width, and 64.2 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 107.1 inches.
There will be two models available, each having a top speed of 112mph. They will be powered by a single electric motor with peak power outputs of 140 and 160 kW. The Sealion 05 EV is slightly shorter than its hybrid counterpart, the Sealion 05 DM-i, measuring 185.4 inches in length.

BYD is also increasing its hybrid lineup with the Seal 05. This plug-in hybrid vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter engine producing 74 kW and a single electric motor with a peak power of 120 kW. The Seal 05 hybrid will be offered in four models, each with a top speed of 180 km/h.
The Seal 07 isn’t completely new. The regulatory papers only indicate a new hybrid model that prioritizes performance. This variant has a dual-motor configuration with a combined output of 350 kW, allowing for a 0-62 mph sprint in under 4.7 seconds.

The new models demonstrate BYD’s evolving approach to the EV market. The company intends to grow its customer base by providing a varied selection of electric and hybrid vehicles. The demands and preferences of Chinese EV customers are changing rapidly, and hybrid vehicles are becoming more popular.
