SAIC and Huawei to develop new Feifan RC7 (ES37) electric SUV

SAIC Motor, one of China’s leading automakers, is reportedly teaming with Huawei to build a new electric SUV dubbed “ES37”.

This is not the first time SAIC and Huawei have partnered on an electric vehicle project. The two businesses have already collaborated on multiple SUVs, with Huawei providing innovative automobile technologies and SAIC overseeing the manufacturing process.

SAIC’s Feifan brand will introduce the ES37, potentially the Feifan RC7 (similar to Feifan R7), as its third model. It is planned to be a mid-sized pure electric SUV priced around RMB 200,000 ($28,000). The car will be released in the second quarter of this year, and it could showcase both firms’ cutting-edge technologies.

Huawei’s contribution to the ES37 will include smart driving solutions. Although specifics are unknown, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving capabilities, and connectivity are almost certainly included.

SAIC’s agreement with Huawei is part of a rising trend of collaboration between automakers and tech companies. Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly advanced, and automakers are searching for technological partners to assist them with solutions that they cannot build on their own.
