Li Auto is preparing to formally introduce the Li Auto i6 on September 26, 2025, making it the company’s second all-electric SUV following the Li i8. The i6 is an important step for Li Auto as it seeks to regain momentum in China’s cutthroat EV market, as sales have slowed this year.
A New Pure-Electric SUV for Families
The Li Auto i6 is being marketed as a “new form of five-seat SUV” that strikes a balance between a roomy interior and small exterior dimensions. According to Li Auto, the i6 offers the “magic of compact exterior and spacious interior” with dimensions of 4,950 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height and a 3,000 mm wheelbase.
Its sleek, low-drag design is engineered to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and extend driving range.

Powertrain and Range
The Li Auto i6 will be offered in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations.
- Range: Up to 720 km (CLTC) on a single charge.
- Performance: Dual-motor versions will cater to buyers seeking more power and all-wheel drive capability.
This makes the i6 a strong alternative to premium SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Audi Q5, which Li Auto says it is directly targeting.
Pricing and Market Positioning
According to Li Auto, the i6 will cost between RMB 250,000 ($35,130) and RMB 300,000 ($42,150). With this pricing, it undercuts many German luxury competitors while firmly placing it in the premium midsize SUV market.

Sales Targets and Business Outlook
Li Auto has had a difficult 2025 in terms of sales. August saw a sharp decline in deliveries for the third consecutive month, falling 40.72% year over year to 28,529 units. According to CnEVPost data, total deliveries decreased 8.64% year over year to 263,198 units between January and August.
The company hopes the Li Auto i6 will help reverse this trend. Founder and CEO Li Xiang has set ambitious targets:
- Li i6: 9,000–10,000 units per month by year-end.
- Li i8: 6,000 monthly deliveries.
- Li Auto BEVs (including the Li Mega MPV): Stabilized at 18,000–20,000 units monthly.
Li Auto’s resolve to bolster its all-electric lineup and regain customers who might have been dissatisfied with the i8 is demonstrated by the introduction of the Li Auto i6. The i6 may mark a sea change in the company’s EV strategy thanks to its competitive range, useful design, and alluring pricing.
