BYD’s Denza revealed the Z9 sedan at the Guangzhou Auto Show today, following months of speculation. It will join Denza’s lineup with the Z9GT hatchback, which was released in September.
The Z9, like the Z9GT, starts at CNY 354,800 ($49,000). It measures 203.9 inches long, 78.3 inches broad, 59.8 inches tall, and has a wheelbase of 123 inches.
The Z9 features a tri-motor configuration. There is a 230 kW front motor and two rear motors that produce 240 kW peak power. This configuration accelerates the automobile from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds.
The battery is made by BYD itself of course, and has a capacity of 100 kWh. Its CLTC range is rated at 391 miles but as usual we must caution you to take this number with a huge dose of skepticism, as the CLTC ratings are well known to be the most optimistic out there.

- Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV): Combines a 2.0L turbocharged internal combustion engine (152 kW/204 hp) with three electric motors for a total of 858 hp (640 kW) and a mixed driving range of 1,100 km.
- Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV): Features three electric motors with a combined output of 951 hp (710 kW) and a 100 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 630 km.
- Pricing: Expected to range between 334,800 and 414,800 yuan ($47,100–$58,400).
Interior Features:
- Screens Galore: Equipped with nine displays, including a 13.2-inch instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a passenger screen, rear entertainment screens, and controls for climate and other functions.
- Luxury Touches: Offers an augmented reality head-up display, dual wireless phone chargers, a refrigerator, fold-out tables, leg rests for rear passengers, and 26 Devialet speakers for an immersive audio experience.
Design:
- Exterior: Features a sleek design with a continuous bonnet line, dual-layer headlights, and signature taillights. Chrome multi-spoke wheels and a large diffuser complete its premium look.
- Interior: Prioritizes passenger comfort with a luxurious layout, including rear seats with wide leg rests.
