Huawei reveals Maextro S800 electric sedan official photos

The upcoming debut of Huawei‘s Maextro S800 electric vehicle has sparked excitement in the Chinese automobile industry. The S800, developed as a joint venture between tech giant Huawei and automaker JAC, is the luxury Maextro brand’s first product, and it is clearly aimed at disrupting the established order.

The S800 is China’s largest electric vehicle sedan, measuring 215.7 inches in length.

The S800 will be available in both battery and EREV models. The BEV features three electric motors with a total output of 852 horsepower. The EREV variant, which has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine as a range extender and three electric motors, generates an incredible 1,006 horsepower.

The EREV variant just employs a gasoline engine as a generator, powering the electric motors and removing the need for frequent recharge stops. This arrangement offers an all-electric range of up to 231 miles according to the CLTC standard, with the option of using gasoline for longer journeys.

Huawei is also displaying its technological power with the S800’s autonomous features.

For the time being, the official launch date is unknown, but CarNewsChina expects it in the second quarter. Pricing is likely to range from RMB 1 to 1.5 million ($136,000 to $205,000).
