Kia EVs Face Delay in Access to Tesla Superchargers
Kia EV owners in North America will have to wait a little longer before they can charge at Tesla Superchargers. Kia initially announced that its vehicles would gain access to the Supercharger network starting January 15, but that timeline has officially changed.
The automaker quietly updated its press materials, replacing the firm date with a broader timeframe: “first quarter of 2025.” This means Kia drivers in the US and Canada won’t be using Tesla Superchargers just yet—but the rollout should still happen before March 31, 2025, unless plans shift again.

Free NACS Adapters Still Available for New Kia EV Buyers
There is some good news. Kia will still offer free NACS adapters, which are required to use Tesla Superchargers, for qualifying owners:
- Free adapters: Kia EV9 and EV6 buyers who purchased on or after September 6, 2024
- Paid adapters: Owners who bought their Kia EV before that date will need to purchase the adapter
The NACS adapter pricing hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but based on what other EV brands are charging, it’s expected to cost around $200.
When Will Pricing and Availability Be Announced?
Kia is expected to share more details—including exact pricing and availability for the NACS adapter—closer to the actual Supercharger access launch date. With the date now pushed to Q1 2025, updates will likely come early next year.
