The LDV eT60 is a five-seat dual-cab electric ute produced by LDV, a commercial vehicle brand under SAIC Motor of China. It launched in Australia in late 2022 as the country’s first factory-built electric dual-cab ute — beating Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi to market.
The eT60 is based directly on the diesel-powered LDV T60 platform rather than a purpose-built EV architecture. It is available in a single trim and in rear-wheel-drive (4×2) configuration only — no 4×4 variant has been offered. A successor model, the LDV eTerron 9, has been confirmed for Australia and is expected to replace the eT60 with substantially improved specifications across range, towing, and drivetrain options.
The eT60 uses a CATL-supplied battery with a nominal capacity of 88.5 kWh and a usable capacity of 84.7 kWh.
Range figures apply to an unladen vehicle. Loading the tray or towing will reduce range materially, as the eT60’s energy consumption of approximately 21.3–26.8 kWh/100 km is already high relative to its battery size. There is no EPA-rated figure; the eT60 is not sold in the United States.
The single rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 130 kW and 310 Nm of torque. Top speed is limited to 120 km/h. No 0–100 km/h figure has been officially published by LDV Australia.
| Charging Type | Power | Time |
|---|---|---|
| AC (11 kW, 3-phase wallbox) | 11 kW | ~9 hours (5–100%) |
| AC (7.2 kW, single-phase) | 7.2 kW | ~13 hours (5–100%) |
| DC fast charge (CCS2) | 80 kW peak | ~45 min (20–80%) |
The eT60 uses a CCS2 (Type 2/CC2) charging port. V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality is not available. LDV’s fleet positioning means most buyers are expected to charge overnight using an 11 kW AC wallbox at a depot or workplace rather than relying on public DC charging.
| Specification | LDV eT60 |
|---|---|
| Payload | 1,000 kg |
| Towing (braked) | 1,000 kg (Australia) / 1,500 kg (New Zealand) |
| Ground clearance | 187 mm |
| GVM | 3,300 kg |
| Tray dimensions | 1,510 mm × 1,485 mm × 530 mm (L×W×H) |
The 1,000 kg braked towing capacity is a significant reduction from the 3,000 kg rating of the diesel T60 Max and is one of the eT60’s most frequently cited limitations. The 1,000 kg payload matches or slightly exceeds the diesel T60 Max Pro’s 935 kg rating. The approach and departure angles (27° and 24° respectively) match the diesel version, but ground clearance has dropped from 215 mm to 187 mm.
| Market | Price |
|---|---|
| Australia | A$92,990 before on-road costs / A$88,431 drive-away (ABN holders) |
| New Zealand | ~NZ$79,000 drive-away |
| Nigeria / Kenya / South Africa | Not confirmed — no established grey-market import channel |
The eT60 is sold in a single variant. The FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) exemption applies in Australia, which reduces the effective cost for eligible business buyers. The model is not subject to Australia’s Luxury Car Tax (LCT). LDV backs the eT60 with a five-year/160,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty.
The substantial price gap between the eT60 (A$92,990) and the diesel T60 range (A$38,990–A$53,674 drive-away) reflects battery costs and a deliberate fleet-only positioning rather than a retail price strategy.
The eT60 is not a retail vehicle. LDV has been explicit that it targets large corporate entities, all three levels of Australian government, and fleet operators with formal emissions reduction commitments. Metropolitan councils, utility companies, and infrastructure operators running back-to-base routes are the primary audience.
The 330 km WLTP range, 80 kW DC charging, and 1,000 kg payload are workable within metro and suburban fleet operations. The eT60 is a poor match for buyers who need genuine towing capacity, AWD, long-distance range, or a vehicle priced for private ownership.
Approximately 100 eT60s have been sold in Australia since launch — almost entirely to fleets and government buyers.
| Model | Powertrain | Towing | Range | Australia Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LDV eT60 | BEV, RWD | 1,000 kg | 330 km WLTP | A$92,990 |
| BYD Shark 6 | PHEV, AWD | 3,500 kg | 800+ km (combined) | ~A$69,000 |
| GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV | PHEV, AWD | 3,500 kg | 800+ km (combined) | ~A$65,000 |
| LDV eTerron 9 (successor) | BEV, RWD/AWD | 3,500 kg | 430 km WLTP | TBC |
| Ford Ranger | Diesel/PHEV | 3,500 kg | N/A | from A$43,000 |
Closest comparison model: The BYD Shark 6 PHEV is the most direct comparison in the electrified ute segment in Australia. Both target fleet and commercial buyers, both are built by Chinese parent companies, and both carry a price premium over conventional diesel utes. The Shark 6 undercuts the eT60 significantly on price while offering AWD, 3,500 kg towing, and a total range exceeding 800 km via its combined PHEV system — though it is not a pure BEV.
