The Luxeed RX is a mid-size electric SUV from Luxeed, a premium joint brand between Chery and Huawei’s HIMA alliance. It sits above the R7 and S7 in the brand’s lineup, positioning it as Luxeed’s flagship SUV entry to date. The RX is built on a rear- or all-wheel-drive layout, offered in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations. What makes it notable isn’t marketing — it’s the four-LiDAR sensor array, an equipment level uncommon even among premium Chinese EVs that typically run one to three units, and exterior proportions that closely echo the Ferrari Purosangue, a resemblance pointed enough that Luxeed had to walk back a designer’s claim of Ferrari pedigree on Weibo.
Powertrain & Charging
The RX is offered with three battery configurations. The entry-level RWD variant uses an 81.1 kWh pack (chemistry reported as LFP) feeding a 277 kW rear motor, roughly 377 hp. The dual-motor AWD version adds a 160 kW front motor to the 277 kW rear unit for a combined 437 kW, translating to roughly 585–594 hp depending on the source. Two higher-capacity packs near 100 kWh are also listed in regulatory filings. Under China’s CLTC cycle, the top-spec version is rated up to 852 km (529 miles) of range — CLTC figures run notably optimistic compared to WLTP or EPA testing, so real-world range under WLTP-equivalent conditions would land meaningfully lower. AC onboard charging rate, DC peak charging rate, and 10–80% charging time have not been officially disclosed as of this writing; treat any specific charging-speed claims as unconfirmed until Luxeed publishes official specs.
Pricing, Fit & Context
The RX hasn’t been formally priced. Luxeed has signaled a target above 300,000 yuan (roughly $44,190), positioning it in the premium mid-size SUV bracket rather than the mainstream segment. Final pricing, trims, and regional availability remain unconfirmed ahead of the August 20, 2026 pre-order opening, with a China market launch expected in autumn 2026. This is a vehicle built for buyers who want SUV practicality with coupe styling and heavy tech integration — think tech-forward professionals and families who prioritize cabin experience and driver-assist hardware over outright value.
Within Luxeed’s own range, the RX slots above the R7 (mid-size coupe SUV) and alongside the S7 (sedan) and V9 (full-size minivan) as the brand pushes into higher price tiers. Externally, it competes with the Tesla Model Y and Model X on the electric SUV side, and with NIO’s ES6 and ES7 among Chinese premium rivals. For a direct SEO comparison angle, the NIO ES6 is the closest match on size, segment, and price positioning.
