Nio’s Onvo sub-brand introduced its first model, the L60, in China last year and has achieved respectable sales numbers there.
The L80 has now finished trial production and will move on to the Tooling Trial phase before beginning production, which should occur within the next few weeks provided all goes well.
As a result, because all of these pre-production procedures are already well underway, the L80 might be available by the middle of the year. If nothing goes wrong from here, a July introduction would not surprise us. Deliveries are already scheduled to begin in the third quarter, between July and September.
The L80 is likely to be a large SUV with six or seven seats. After the L60’s launch, Nio CEO William Li informed the media that the L80 would be “a revolutionary product” that will “bring surprises,” but he did not go into any further detail. He did, however, remark that the L80 would be a more competitive product than the L60.
This year, Onvo will also offer a large five-seater SUV.
