The Geely Radar King Kong is a battery-electric dual-cab pickup truck produced by Radar Auto, an EV sub-brand established under Geely Group in 2022. It sits at the entry-to-mid tier of Radar’s lineup and is sold in export markets under the Riddara RD6 badge. Built on the MAP Radar Hanhai platform, the King Kong is positioned as a commercial and passenger dual-use electric pickup. The most notable structural detail is the monocoque construction — all Radar King Kong models use a monocoque platform rather than the body-on-frame architecture typical of most dual-cab utes — which separates it from most traditional pickups in the segment. Drivetrain options cover RWD with a single rear motor and AWD with dual motors.
The RWD variant runs a single electric motor rated at 180 kW and 309 Nm, available with four battery options of 42, 55, 73, and 86 kWh, covering a CLTC range of 310 to 605 km. The AWD variant produces 280 kW and 485 Nm across dual motors, with battery choices of 42, 63, or 73 kWh, and CLTC range between 330 and 520 km. All range figures are rated under China’s CLTC test cycle, which runs roughly 20–25% more optimistic than WLTP — WLTP-equivalent figures for any trim have not been confirmed. AC onboard charging rate and DC peak fast-charge speed have not been officially published for international markets at the time of writing; these specs should be treated as unconfirmed until Radar releases a global datasheet.
The Radar King Kong launched in China with a starting price of 99,800 yuan, equivalent to approximately $13,700 USD, across seven trim levels up to 159,800 yuan ($21,900 USD). No confirmed pricing exists for Nigeria or wider sub-Saharan Africa, where it would most likely arrive through grey import channels rather than any official distributor. The practical buyer here is a small fleet operator, trades business, or rural buyer who needs pickup utility without petrol running costs — not someone prioritising long highway range or DC rapid charging infrastructure, which remains sparse across most of Nigeria. Within the Radar lineup, the King Kong sits below the Radar Horizon (the brand’s premium full-spec variant) and alongside the King Kong EM-P, the plug-in hybrid sibling that launched at 139,800 yuan ($19,400 USD) offering extended combined range for those who want a fuel fallback. External rivals at comparable prices include the BYD Shark 6 PHEV and the GWM Cannon Alpha, with the Shark 6 being the closest spec-and-segment match for direct comparison purposes.
