Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II vs Porsche Taycan

The Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II is an ultra-luxury electric coupe for owners who want a chauffeur-grade grand tourer that signals arrival, not lap times. The Porsche Taycan is an electric sports sedan (also offered as a Cross/Sport Turismo wagon) for drivers who want genuine performance handling with daily usability. Both got 2026 updates — Rolls-Royce with a bigger battery and NACS support, Porsche with faster infotainment and a new Black Edition — making this a timely head-to-head for top-tier EV buyers.

Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II vs Porsche Taycan

Range & Charging. The Spectre Series II is rated up to 308 miles (EPA) / around 629 km (WLTP) on its new 112.4 kWh battery, up from 265 miles previously. Real-world figures remain unverified. The Taycan spans a wider band by trim: base rear-drive runs 251–277 miles (EPA), while the 4S with the optional Performance Battery Plus reaches 315 miles (EPA) / 390 miles (WLTP). Charging favors Porsche decisively — its 800V architecture hits up to 320 kW DC, taking 10–80% in about 18 minutes. Rolls-Royce hasn’t disclosed the Spectre’s DC peak beyond confirming NACS support. Both cars support standard overnight AC home charging, which Rolls-Royce says is how most Spectre owners charge anyway.

Price, Availability & Market Fit. The Spectre starts at $397,750, with the 671-hp Black Badge variant from $467,750, plus bespoke customization that regularly pushes six figures higher. The Taycan starts at roughly $105,800 for the base sedan, climbing through the 4S (~$120,000), GTS ($157,000), and Turbo GT ($243,700). Both are sold globally through their respective dealer networks in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. If your budget caps out well under $200,000, the Taycan is the only one of these two you can actually buy; above that, the Spectre becomes a genuine option.

Ecosystem & Rivals. Within Rolls-Royce, the Cullinan (SUV) and Phantom remain combustion-only, so the Spectre is the brand’s sole EV. Porsche buyers can also consider the Macan Electric for an SUV body style or the upcoming electric Cayenne. Outside both brands, the Mercedes-Benz EQS (up to 575 miles WLTP) and Lucid Air (500+ miles EPA, from ~$70,000) both undercut on range and price. Neither, however, matches the Spectre’s ultra-luxury coupe positioning or the Taycan’s motorsport-derived dynamics, which is why this comparison still holds for buyers prioritizing brand identity over raw range numbers.

Pros & Cons. Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II: It delivers a genuinely first-mover ultra-luxury EV coupe with no direct rival, which matters to buyers who want exclusivity above all else. Its bespoke interior program lets owners commission dozens of unique details, appealing to collectors rather than commuters. The longer 308-mile range finally makes it usable beyond short city runs. On the downside, undisclosed DC charging specs leave road-trip planning uncertain, and the $397,750+ entry price puts it out of reach for all but a tiny buyer pool.

Porsche Taycan: Its 320 kW charging genuinely supports long-distance driving, useful for owners without a second gas car. The trim spread ($105,800 to $243,700) lets buyers scale performance to budget. Proven handling and strong resale value (around 53% at 5 years) reduce ownership risk. Downsides: base-trim range (251–277 miles) trails rivals at the same price, and options push the sticker toward $150,000 quickly.

QUICK VERDICT Choose the Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II if you prioritize exclusivity, bespoke craftsmanship, and chauffeur-style comfort over charging convenience. Choose the Porsche Taycan if driving dynamics, faster charging, and a lower entry price matter more to you. The two rarely compete for the same buyer — one is priced for a segment of one, the other for a broader luxury-performance market.
