PROS

  1. Huawei ADS 5.0 with six LiDAR sensors is the most advanced driver assistance hardware available at this price point in the full-size SUV segment.
  2. The BEV variant's 750 km CLTC range and the EREV's 1,405 km combined range address long-distance usability directly.
  3. The tri-motor Ultimate Extended Edition delivers 890 hp and a sub-4-second 0–100 km/h time at under $100,000 USD.

CONS

  1. All published range figures are CLTC-rated; WLTP or EPA equivalents are unconfirmed, and real-world range outside China will be lower.
  2. The M9 is not officially exported, meaning buyers in African and other grey-market regions face import duties, clearing fees, and logistics costs that push the effective price significantly above the China launch price.

The AITO M9 2026 is a full-size luxury SUV produced by HIMA — the Huawei Intelligent Mobility Alliance formed with Seres — and sits as the flagship model in the Aito lineup. It is a five-door, six-seat SUV available in both pure electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) configurations, all with all-wheel drive. Launched on 28 May 2026, it represents the first full generation change since the original M9 debuted in December 2023, introducing a longer body, new powertrain options, and a first-ever extended-wheelbase variant.

The BEV variant is built on an 800-volt architecture and uses a 120 kWh CATL battery, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 750 km — WLTP equivalent has not been confirmed at launch. The standard EREV uses a 1.5T range extender with dual motors (667 hp) for a combined range of up to 1,405 km, with a pure-electric CLTC range of 340–422 km depending on trim. The Ultimate Extended Edition uses a 2.0T range extender and tri-motor setup producing 890 hp. AC onboard charging rate and DC peak charging speed have not been officially published at the time of writing; given the 800V platform, DC fast charging capability is expected to be substantial but should be treated as unconfirmed until HIMA releases technical documentation.

The M9 2026 is priced from ¥479,800 to ¥659,800 in China, equivalent to approximately $70,600–$97,000 USD at launch. It targets executive and large-family buyers who prioritise cabin technology, long-range capability, and advanced driver assistance in a full-size format. Within the Aito range it slots above the M8 (~$53,000) and well above the M5 (~$33,000). External rivals at comparable pricing and segment include the Li Auto L9 and the BMW iX xDrive50. The closest direct comparison for spec and price is the Li Auto L9, which competes on EREV powertrain, three-row seating, and similar China market positioning.
