The 2026 Buick Electra L7 EV is a pure-electric sedan from SAIC-GM’s Buick Electra sub-brand, positioned as the flagship battery-electric model in Buick’s China-only electrified lineup. It’s a mid-to-full-size sedan built on the Xiao Yao platform, with a single rear-mounted motor driving the rear wheels (RWD). The L7 EV is notable as Buick’s first pure-battery flagship sedan under the Electra name, launching roughly ten months after the extended-range (EREV) version of the same car — giving the nameplate both a range-extended and an all-electric variant sharing one architecture and body.
Power comes from an 80.6 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack (usable capacity not officially disclosed), rated at 702 km (436 miles) on the CLTC cycle. No WLTP or EPA figures have been published yet, so real-world range in other test cycles will land lower than the CLTC number suggests. The pack sits on an 800V architecture paired with 6C DC fast-charging, with Buick claiming 450 km (280 miles) added in roughly 10 minutes on a DC fast charger; a full 10–80% charge time hasn’t been officially confirmed. AC onboard charging rate has not been disclosed. The rear motor produces 282 kW (378 hp) and 382 Nm of torque, with a 0–100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h (136 mph). Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is standard, supporting up to 6 kW of external power output.
Pricing starts at roughly 189,900 yuan (about $26,500 USD; €24,300; £21,300 equivalent at current exchange rates), with higher trims climbing toward the low-$30,000 range. Pricing and availability are China-market only; no export pricing or launch timeline has been confirmed for other regions. The L7 EV suits tech-forward commuters and family-sedan buyers in China who want flagship-level range and fast charging without committing to a battery-swap subscription model. Within Buick’s own lineup, the Electra L7 EV sits above the compact Electra E4 and mid-size Electra E5, serving as the brand’s range-topping sedan alongside its EREV L7 sibling. Outside Buick, it competes with the Zeekr 007 and Nio ET5, both LFP-based sedans in a similar price and range class. For a direct spec-and-price comparison, the Zeekr 007 is the closest match, given comparable range positioning and LFP battery chemistry.
