  3. At around $26,700, the specification-to-price ratio is strong relative

CONS

  2. Availability is currently limited to the Chinese domestic market

The Hongqi Tiangong 06 is a battery electric SUV produced by Hongqi, a subsidiary of FAW Group. It is a midsize SUV built on the Hongqi Tiangong Architecture, positioned in the mid- to high-end electric SUV segment, and available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts. Body dimensions sit at 4,750 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,640 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase and a 0.259 Cd drag coefficient.

The 2026 update introduces an 800V high-voltage architecture, with a CLTC-rated range of up to 610 km for the Tiangong 06 SUV. Charging from 10% to 80% takes 12 minutes on a compatible fast charger. The vehicle also supports external discharge at 6 kW, making it usable as a power source for appliances or other devices.

The Tiangong 06 is priced from 191,800 yuan (approximately $26,700 USD). It suits buyers who want a well-equipped midsize electric SUV without moving into the premium price tier, particularly those prioritising fast charging and interior tech over brand prestige. Within the Hongqi lineup, it sits alongside the Tiangong 05, a compact electric sedan, and the Tiangong 08, a larger midsize luxury electric SUV.  Alternative options in a similar segment include the Tesla Model Y and the Kia EV6 AWD. In a direct comparison with the Model Y, the Tiangong 06 undercuts it on price while offering faster charging, though the Model Y holds the advantage in global service availability and software maturity.
