  3. Compact dimensions suited to urban use

CONS

  1. Limited DC charging speed compared with some rivals
  2. Smaller boot space than some competitors

ORA Cat is a compact battery electric hatchback built by Great Wall Motor under its ORA brand. It sits in the small car segment and uses a five door hatchback body style. In some markets it is sold as the ORA Funky Cat. It targets urban drivers who want a small footprint with modern safety and driver assistance features.

The ORA Cat uses a single front mounted electric motor. Battery options vary by market, commonly around 48 kWh and 63 kWh usable capacity. WLTP range figures range from about 193 miles to around 261 miles depending on battery size. DC fast charging supports up to roughly 80 kW, taking the battery from 15 percent to 80 percent in about 40 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging is supported at up to 11 kW on three phase supply.

Pricing positions the ORA Cat in the lower end of the compact EV segment, competing with mainstream European and Asian models. It suits city commuters, first time EV buyers, and households needing a second car. From the same brand, buyers can also consider the ORA 07 and the ORA Lightning Cat. Alternatives include the MG4 EV and the BYD Dolphin. Compared with the MG4 EV, the ORA Cat focuses more on interior design and comfort, while the MG4 offers a rear wheel drive platform and broader battery choices.
