In Germany, Xiaomi Group President and Partner Lu Weibing successfully finished a two-day test drive of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, showcasing the company’s next significant move toward its 2027 entry into the European electric vehicle market.

On November 6, Lu posted on social media that he had traveled about 800 kilometers on two different routes: Hamburg to Frankfurt and Berlin to Hamburg. The trip was a part of Xiaomi’s extensive road testing preparations for the SU7 Ultra in Europe.

Lu assessed Germany’s public charging system while there, calling it “well-developed overall.” Additionally, he pointed out that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra attracted a lot of attention at charging stations, with a number of bystanders identifying the model by name—an early indication of the brand’s expanding reach outside of China.

High-Speed Autobahn Performance

Lu revealed that he had never driven on Germany’s autobahn before, where there are places with no speed limits. According to reports, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra maintained outstanding stability and control while reaching an amazing 260 km/h.

He underlined that as part of its plan to expand into Europe, Xiaomi’s automotive division will keep improving the SU7 lineup, with an official entry into the market anticipated in 2027.

Xiaomi’s Automotive Growth and Investment

Lu disclosed earlier in August that the Xiaomi YU7 series had maintained the robust market performance set by the SU7 lineup. By the second half of 2026, he predicted, Xiaomi’s automotive division could turn a profit, bringing its quarterly operating loss down to 300 million yuan (approximately $41.8 million).

In spite of these advancements, Xiaomi’s automotive division has already spent more than 30 billion yuan (approximately $4.18 billion) on infrastructure, R&D, and other projects. Lu reiterated the company’s long-term commitment to the EV market while acknowledging that full profitability is still a few years away.

The Nürburgring, one of the most difficult racetracks in the world, and Munich have both hosted extensive testing for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. The car has a 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin II battery pack that runs at 897 volts and has a 630 km CLTC-rated range.

In terms of performance, it is one of the fastest electric sedans in the world, reaching a top speed of 350 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds.

European Road Testing and Future Plans

The SU7 Ultra was officially tested on European roads by Xiaomi in July 2025, marking the company’s first electric vehicle to be fully approved by European regulators for use on public roads. A production-spec model bearing the license plate “M SU7088E,” which stands for “M” for Munich and “Mi” for Xiaomi, was registered in Munich.

During these tests, Lu Weibing drove the SU7 Ultra himself, confirming the model’s suitability for driving conditions in Europe.

Xiaomi’s Roadmap to Europe

After reaching its expected domestic profitability milestone in late 2026, Xiaomi plans to formally enter the European EV market in 2027. The company’s extensive plan to validate the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in authentic European settings and make sure it satisfies the performance, safety, and comfort standards demanded by European consumers includes the recent German Autobahn test drive.
