XPeng G9L is a flagship-tier SUV from XPeng, sitting at the top of the brand’s global lineup alongside the larger six-seat GX. It’s a full-size, five-seat SUV offered in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, with battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range (EREV) powertrains sold under the same body. The G9L is notable for being the first model to share XPeng’s GX-derived SEPA 3.0 platform, effectively functioning as a smaller, more accessible counterpart to the GX rather than a standalone design.
On the BEV side, the G9L uses either a 91.9 kWh LFP pack or a larger 110 kWh NMC pack, both supplied by CALB. CLTC-rated range spans 660 km to 755 km depending on trim and battery choice, with a higher 805 km figure mentioned in early teaser material for the base single-motor version. Official WLTP or EPA figures haven’t been published yet — outlets estimating from CLTC data put the range closer to 570–620 km WLTP, but this hasn’t been confirmed by XPeng. The EREV variant uses a smaller 63.3 kWh LFP pack with a confirmed WLTP electric-only range of 325–350 km, paired with a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender for a combined range up to 1,602 km CLTC. Charging runs on an 800V architecture with roughly 5C peak DC input (estimated around 500 kW), taking 10.7–11.7 minutes for a 10–80% charge, or adding 450 km of range in 9 minutes. AC onboard charging rate hasn’t been disclosed.
Pre-sales opened in China at 259,800 yuan (about $38,260 USD), with final pricing still pending. In euro terms that lands in roughly the €35,000–€36,000 range before any market-specific adjustments, though XPeng hasn’t confirmed European pricing. The G9L realistically suits buyers who need a large family SUV with genuine long-distance capability — road-trip-oriented households who value fast charging over compact-city practicality. Within XPeng’s own lineup, it sits between the standard G9 and the larger, six-seat GX, effectively splitting the difference on price and size. Outside the brand, it competes most directly with the Li Auto L8 and the AITO M7, both of which target the same extended-range, family-SUV buyer in China. For a direct spec-and-price comparison, the Li Auto L8 is the closest match — similar size class, similar EREV-first strategy, and overlapping price positioning.
