2021 Audi Cars gets ChatGPT to its assistant

Audi has announced that it would use ChatGPT into its infotainment system starting next month. Owners of about two million Audi vehicles made since 2021 will receive it if their vehicles are equipped with the third-generation modular infotainment system.

ChatGPT, an extension of the Audi assistant, will be available for new cars at launch, including the Q6 e-tron and future models powered by the E3 1.2 electronics architecture.

Audi drivers will be able to use better voice control to operate the infotainment, navigation, and air conditioning systems like before, but they may also ask general knowledge questions and receive replies via ChatGPT.

Marcus Keith, Vice President of Interior, Infotainment, and Connectivity Development at Audi, said:

With the seamless integration of ChatGPT into our voice control, we are combining the strengths of both applications. In addition to a range of voice-controlled functions, our customers will now benefit from simple and secure access to AI-based knowledge. This is the next step towards a best-in-class in-cabin experience in Audi vehicles.

According to the brand, the ability to request information in everyday language makes driving safer because you don’t have to take your eyes off the road at any point. When Audi help is unable to respond to an inquiry, it sends it to ChatGPT. The connection with the Audi assistant guarantees an exceptional overall experience.

To safeguard privacy, all questions and replies are deleted after processing (from the automobile), and ChatGPT has no access to vehicle data. OpenAI may (and very surely will) store your requests, but Audi is unlikely to have any influence over this.
