The Voyah Taishan X8 is a full-size, five-seat luxury SUV built by Voyah, the premium EV arm of Dongfeng Motor Corporation. It sits as the fourth SUV in Voyah’s lineup and the second model in the Taishan series, positioned one rung below the larger, six- or seven-seat flagship Taishan. Both PHEV and BEV drivetrains are offered, each running dual-motor all-wheel drive. The Taishan X8 is the launch vehicle for Huawei’s HarmonyOS Cockpit 5.2 in-car ecosystem and the first model to feature that platform’s dual-screen 2K 15.6-inch infotainment layout.
The PHEV variant pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (110 kW) with dual electric motors in two output configurations: 150 kW + 215 kW or 150 kW + 230 kW. Battery options are a 44.5 kWh LFP pack or a 65 kWh CATL NMC unit, with a CLTC electric-only range of up to 310 km. The BEV version carries a 120 kWh battery and a CLTC range of over 700 km. Usable capacity figures have not been officially confirmed. Both variants are built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform with 5C ultra-fast charging architecture; the BEV charges from 20% to 80% in 10 minutes. No WLTP or EPA range figures have been published — all range data is CLTC only and should be treated accordingly. AC onboard charging rate has not been officially disclosed at launch.
The Taishan X8 launched in China on 22 May 2026 with a starting price of 292,900 yuan (approximately $43,100 USD) for the entry PHEV trim, rising to 379,900 yuan (~$55,700 USD) for the top BEV configuration. Three PHEV variants are priced at 292,900 yuan, 329,900 yuan, and 359,900 yuan; two BEV variants at 339,900 yuan and 379,900 yuan. No confirmed export pricing or grey-market import data for African markets (Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa) is available at this stage. The vehicle suits high-income families and executive buyers who need a five-seat premium SUV with extended range capability and a tech-forward cabin. Within Voyah’s own lineup it sits between the Courage (Zhiyin) below and the full-size Taishan flagship above. External rivals at comparable price points include the Li Auto L8 and the AITO M9, with the AITO M9 being the closest direct competitor on spec, tech stack, and price positioning. The closest single-model comparison is the Voyah Taishan X8 vs. AITO M9.
