The Voyah Free is a mid-to-large electric SUV built by Voyah, the premium new-energy division of China’s Dongfeng Motor Corporation. In export markets the Free sits as Voyah’s entry-level crossover, positioned below the Voyah Dream MPV and the Zhuiguang sedan. It’s a five-door, five-seat SUV offered with two very different powertrain choices: a fully battery-electric model with dual-motor all-wheel drive, and an extended-range electric vehicle that can be had in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

What makes the Free genuinely notable is its status as the first Voyah model exported to Europe — 500 units landed in Norway at the end of 2022 — and for 2025 it was refreshed with the updated Free+ variant. If you’re searching for a large electric family SUV that’s relatively new to European roads but already on its second iteration, the Voyah Free is worth a close look.

Voyah Free Powertrain & Charging

The battery-electric Voyah Free carries a 106 kWh gross ternary-lithium pack, most often listed as 106.7 kWh, and runs on a 400‑volt system. Official WLTP combined range is 500 km, with rated energy consumption of 20.2 kWh per 100 km. AC home charging maxes out at 11 kW through the onboard charger, while DC fast charging peaks between 100 kW and 120 kW. In real-world conditions, a 20–80% top-up takes around 45 minutes.

The extended-range version uses a smaller 43 kWh battery, offers an electric-only CLTC range of 235 km to 318 km, and claims a 30–80% DC charge in approximately 0.4 hours — that’s roughly 24 minutes. Keep in mind the EREV’s electric range is measured on China’s optimistic CLTC cycle, so expect noticeably fewer kilometres in everyday driving if you stick to pure electric mode. All these figures are manufacturer-stated; range and charging speed will always vary with outside temperature, driving style and charger capability.

Voyah Free Pricing, Fit & Competitors

In China the Voyah Free+ is priced from ¥219,900 to ¥279,900, roughly $30,000 38,500. European buyers see a different picture: the BEV starts at €59,990 in Germany, €59,995 in Belgium and £51,400 in the United Kingdom. Realistically, this car suits a family or a private owner who needs a roomy, long-range electric SUV with a premium interior and a large boot, and who values all-wheel-drive traction for year-round driving.

Inside Voyah’s own showroom the Free sits between the smaller Zhiyin SUV and the more expensive Dream MPV, with the Zhuiguang sedan representing the brand’s four-door flagship. From other brands, close alternatives include the Avatr 07 (from ¥219,900 / roughly €55,000) and the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P. If you’re cross-shopping and want the nearest spec‑and‑price match, the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD is the most direct rival — it offers similar WLTP range and starts around €54,990 in Germany. That comparison alone makes the Voyah Free a contender worth examining if you are weighing up a premium Chinese electric SUV against a familiar European best-seller.
