After repeated delays to the electric Range Rover, JLR has confirmed plans for another all electric Land Rover. The model will sit between the Evoque and Range Rover and is set for an official reveal later this year.

JLR’s finance chief described the upcoming EV as unique. While details remain limited, all signs point to a next generation Velar. The positioning matches the current lineup and fills a clear gap in Land Rover’s electric roadmap.

Unusual Design Direction

The electric Velar is expected to break from traditional Land Rover proportions. Reports point to lower ground clearance and a body shape closer to a station wagon. This would mark a shift from the brand’s SUV focused design language and explain the internal description of the car as unique.

EMA Platform and EV Architecture

The new Velar will ride on JLR’s EMA platform. This architecture is dedicated to electric models and will also underpin the upcoming Evoque EV. Expect improved efficiency, lower ride height, and a stronger focus on on road performance.

Expected Launch Timeline

Land Rover plans to launch the Range Rover EV in 2026, followed by the Evoque EV in 2027. Based on this sequence, the electric Velar is likely to arrive in late 2026, shortly after the Range Rover EV.

Land Rover’s Electric Lineup Taking Shape

If the schedule holds, Land Rover will soon offer a three tier EV range:
• Compact EV: Evoque
• Mid size EV: Velar
• Full size EV: Range Rover

This strategy gives Land Rover full coverage of the premium electric SUV market.
