The Fiat Grande Panda Electric is a front-wheel-drive subcompact crossover from Fiat, built on the Stellantis STLA Small platform. It went on sale in Europe in October 2024 and arrived in the UK in February 2025. UK pricing starts at £21,035 OTR. WLTP range is 199 miles from a 43.8 kWh usable battery, and DC fast charging peaks at 100 kW.
The Grande Panda Electric sits between the Fiat 500e and the Fiat 600e in the current lineup — bigger than a city car, smaller than a family SUV, and priced accordingly. Body style is a five-door supermini with a slightly raised ride height. Drivetrain is front-wheel drive only; there is no AWD option at launch.
One thing that genuinely sets it apart from everything else in this price range: it has a retractable AC charging cable built into the front grille. No other production car at this price does that. Whether that matters to you depends on how often you forget your cable, but it’s a real differentiator rather than a marketing talking point.
The Grande Panda Electric has a 44 kWh nominal battery with 43.8 kWh usable. Official WLTP combined range is 199 miles (320 km). Real-world estimates from EV Database put combined mild-weather range closer to 185 miles — still reasonable for the class, but not the figure to quote on a long-distance trip.
Charging breakdown:
The motor produces 113 hp (83 kW) and the 0–62 mph time is 11.0–11.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 82 mph. Nothing exciting, and it’s not trying to be.
In the UK, the range opens at £21,035 OTR for the entry (RED) trim, rises to £21,995 for Icon, and tops out at £24,035 for La Prima. The La Prima adds heated seats, wireless charging, and auto climate control — but at that price it starts competing with the Renault 5 and Hyundai Inster, which are harder to beat on fit and finish.
The Grande Panda Electric is not officially sold in Nigeria, Kenya, or South Africa. Grey-market import costs in Nigeria for European small EVs in this class typically land between ₦25–35 million, depending on port, import duties, and the exchange rate at the time of clearing — this is an estimate, not a confirmed figure, and buyers should verify with clearing agents before budgeting.
Urban commuters and single-car households doing consistent daily distances under 130 miles. It is a reasonable fit if most of your driving is in town and longer trips are occasional enough to plan around public charging. Fleet buyers in the UK market will find it competitive on Benefit-in-Kind liability at its price point.
It is not the right car for someone doing regular motorway runs without a home charger. The sub-200-mile WLTP figure shrinks faster on a dual carriageway than it does in city traffic, and 82 mph top speed means it cruises just below the limit.
Within Fiat: The 500e costs more for less battery and less interior space. The 600e offers a longer-range variant and a larger body for buyers who need more room. The Grande Panda sits between them on price and capability.
External rivals:
The Citroën ë-C3 is the closest technical match — same STLA Small platform, same 44 kWh battery, similar WLTP figure, and a lower starting price. The choice between the two is largely about design preference and brand loyalty rather than specs. If you need a direct comparison post, this is the one to build it around.
The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric starts slightly higher but offers better performance, a more refined interior at equivalent trim levels, and a stronger charging network partnership through Mobilize. It is the more complete car; the Grande Panda is the cheaper one.
The Hyundai Inster undercuts the Grande Panda at entry level and has a smaller battery (49 kWh on the Long Range), but its interior quality edges ahead of the Fiat at comparable trims.
The BYD Dolphin Surf is also worth a mention — it arrives in Europe with comparable range and pricing, and for African buyers already familiar with BYD through grey-market channels, it may be an easier sourcing proposition than a Fiat EV.
