The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has officially returned, but this time it’s a fully electric SUV made just for the European market. The new Eclipse Cross EV adopts a more conventional SUV profile while showcasing contemporary Mitsubishi styling cues, in contrast to the sporty, coupe-style design of its gasoline predecessor.

Exterior Design and Styling
The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV adopts Mitsubishi’s latest design language, featuring:
- A bold front fascia with the brand’s signature split LED headlights.
- A closed-off grille inspired by the larger Outlander.
- Chrome details and stylish 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.
- Revised LED taillights and enhanced black trim for a distinct rear look.
While the SUV carries Mitsubishi’s unique touches, its Renault–Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance roots remain clear, hinting at deeper collaboration within the group.

Performance and Battery
Built on the CMF-EV platform dedicated to electric vehicles, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross delivers impressive performance:
- Single electric motor (FWD) with 215 hp (160 kW).
- 87 kWh battery pack providing up to 373 miles of range (WLTP).
- Water-cooled thermal management system for efficiency.
- DC fast charging up to 150 kW for quick top-ups.
A more affordable variant is expected in 2026, offering a 168 hp motor paired with a 60 kWh battery.

Dimensions and Practicality
With a longer wheelbase of 2,785 mm and a slightly shorter length of 4,470 mm, the Eclipse Cross EV offers more interior space than its predecessor. Depending on how the sliding rear seats are positioned, the cargo capacity can vary from 478 to 1,670 liters, making it a sensible option for families.

Interior and Technology
Inside, the cabin borrows heavily from its Renault counterpart but adds Mitsubishi-specific touches. Key highlights include:
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
- 12-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display with Google built-in.
- Premium options like electrochromic glass roof, customizable ambient lighting, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
- Unique Mitsubishi interior trims and upholstery choices for added brand identity.

Production and Availability
Production of the Renault Scenic and the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will begin in late 2025 at the Douai plant in France.
But only Europe will be able to use this model. Mitsubishi has confirmed that a different electric crossover, based on the same platform as the upcoming Nissan Leaf, will be introduced in North America in the summer of 2026.
