Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng has officially entered the French EV market with the launch of its two advanced SUVs — the XPeng G9 and G6 electric SUVs. This marks a major step in XPeng’s global “V 2.0” strategy, expanding the brand’s presence in Europe and offering French drivers access to cutting-edge EV technology.

XPeng G9: Flagship Power and Range

The XPeng G9 is the company’s flagship electric SUV, now available in three variants — Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance.

  • Powertrain & Performance: The first two versions feature a single rear-mounted motor, while the Performance model includes dual motors with all-wheel drive (AWD). Power output ranges from 230 kW (312 hp) to 405 kW (550 hp), with the top model accelerating from 0–62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
  • Battery & Range: Buyers can choose between 78.2 kWh and 98 kWh battery packs, offering 286 to 354 miles (WLTP) of range depending on configuration. The AWD Performance variant provides up to 323 miles of range.
  • Charging Speed: Thanks to its 800V high-voltage platform, the G9 supports 300 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10–80% charge in only 20 minutes.
  • Price in France: Starts at $70,280 and goes up to $86,680 for the top-spec Performance model.

XPeng G6: Compact Rival to the Tesla Model Y

The XPeng G6 electric SUV enters the competitive mid-size EV market as a direct Tesla Model Y rival, combining sporty design with impressive specs.

  • Versions: Available in Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance trims.
  • Power & Battery: The lineup includes 66 kWh and 87.5 kWh battery options. The base model delivers 255 hp and 440 Nm of torque, reaching 62 mph in 6.9 seconds with a 270-mile WLTP range.
  • Performance Upgrade: The Long Range version produces 280 hp, while the top Performance variant hits 470 hp and 660 Nm, sprinting to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds.
  • Charging: Like the G9, the G6 supports 300 kW fast charging, recharging from 10–80% in just 20 minutes.

XPeng’s Growth and Market Expansion

XPeng’s entrance into France comes amid strong global growth. In the first four months of this year, XPeng delivered 31,214 vehicles, marking a 23.33% year-over-year increase. The G9 and G6 electric SUVs were major contributors, accounting for 19.77% and 21.05% of total deliveries, respectively.

With the XPeng G9 and G6, the automaker strengthens its foothold in Europe and continues to challenge rivals like Tesla, NIO, and BYD with high-performance, fast-charging, and competitively priced electric SUVs.
