Nissan’s Micra has been around since the early ’80s, and for the new K15 generation it finally goes electric. The electrified 2026 Nissan Micra EV 52 kWh also stayed under 13 feet long the whole time other automakers kept bulking up their lineups.
The long-range version tested here pairs a 52 kWh battery with a 150 hp front motor, rated at 254 miles WLTP (no EPA number yet). There’s a smaller 40 kWh / 120 hp version too, for less.

Under the skin it’s basically a Renault 5 E-Tech — same battery packs, most of the same interior. Nissan tuned its own motor and suspension though, and it shows. The Renault felt a bit nervous at speed when it was reviewed; this doesn’t. It’s planted through corners, the steering has real feedback, and even at a leisurely 0-62 in under 8 seconds, it’s fun on a twisty road. The factory tires (efficiency-first, not grip-first) are the ceiling here — the chassis tells you clearly when they’re near their limit.
Inside 2026 Nissan Micra EV 52 kWh is mostly Renault too: wheel, gauges, the Google-based infotainment. All of it works fine. Nissan did drop the Park position from the gear selector, which is odd — Renault lets you add it back as an option on the 5, and Nissan just skipped it. Rear seats are unusually roomy for the size of the car: four adults, even with a tall driver up front, according to the source review.
Cargo space is the weak point. 11.5 cubic feet in the trunk, 39.1 with the seats down, no frunk, and there’s an awkward step between the trunk floor and the folded seatbacks that keeps you from using all of that folded volume.

Efficiency is where this thing earns its keep — supposedly one of the best in its class, which combined with the 52 kWh pack means genuinely usable range, not just for city errands but the occasional longer trip. Charging tops out at 100 kW (15-80% in about 30 minutes), nothing to write home about, but it does support V2L and V2G, which most rivals still skip.
The reversing camera is bad. Slow to load, and the image looks like it’s from a decade-old CCTV setup.
Against the Hyundai Inster and the new Kia EV2, the source review has the 2026 Nissan Micra EV 52 kWh winning on range and driving feel, even where those two offer more space or extras like a sunroof.
Pros: strong range for the class, solid infotainment, more fun to drive than its platform-mate, V2L/V2G, easy to switch off the driver aids.
Cons: no Park position, bad reversing camera, no sunroof option, seats don’t fold flat.
