BYD has released interior images of the third-generation Qin Plus, the latest step in a staged reveal of its family sedan. The company had already disclosed the car’s dimensions and exterior.

Lu Tian, general manager of the sales division of BYD’s Dynasty lineup, posted the photos on Weibo on Thursday. He said the cabin design reflects user feedback.

BYD Qin Plus Interior Revealed: Third-Gen Sedan Details

The images show a blue-and-white two-tone interior with a floating central touchscreen on the dashboard. A wireless charging pad sits in front of the center armrest. Lu said the car follows the Dynasty family’s new design language, with lines kept as simple as possible. It has a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, semi-hidden air vents and soft ambient lighting.

Lu also said the new model has more soft-touch surfaces, more storage, a larger panoramic sunroof and more comfortable seats, which he said put it above others in its class. The exterior in the same images carries a Qin Plus DM-i badge on the front fender, so the car shown is the plug-in hybrid.

How the reveal has unfolded

Lu first teased the car on October 16, pointing to its larger size and interior space. BYD followed on October 21 with high-resolution exterior images. They show a wide front fascia, a fastback roofline, a broader rear end, full-width Chinese knot taillights and a new Island Blue paint color.

Size and powertrain

The all-electric version appeared in a new product filing published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on October 16. It measures 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. That makes it about 60 mm longer, 63 mm wider and 17 mm taller than the current car, with an 82 mm longer wheelbase.

The electric car in the filing has a 100 kW (134 hp) motor, a lithium iron phosphate battery and a top speed of 170 km/h. Those figures do not apply to the DM-i. An earlier MIIT filing for the plug-in hybrid listed a 1.5-liter engine rated at 74 kW paired with a 120 kW motor, and a top speed of 180 km/h.

Where it sits in the Qin lineup

The Qin Plus is the cheapest line in the Qin series, with EV and DM-i versions priced from 79,800 yuan (about $11,880) to 131,800 yuan. The series also includes the Qin L and the higher-positioned Qin Max, each sold as an EV and a plug-in hybrid. BYD last updated the Qin Plus DM-i in January, raising its maximum CLTC electric range to 210 km.

Qin sales are falling

The redesign arrives while Qin series sales are down. The series sold 23,472 units in September, 65.27% fewer than a year earlier but 7.54% more than in August, according to CnEVPost. Sales for the first nine months totaled 207,589 units, down 54.71% from the same period last year.
