The BYD Dolphin Comfort is the third of four trims on BYD’s Dolphin, a five-door, five-seat electric hatchback in the C segment with front-wheel drive. Only the Comfort and the top-spec Design get the larger battery and the 150 kW motor. They arrived first in Europe, and the smaller-battery Active and Boost came in early 2024. All four use BYD’s e-Platform 3.0.
Usable battery capacity is 60.4 kWh (62 kWh nominal), an LFP Blade pack. Range is 427 km (265 miles) on the WLTP combined cycle, and EPA figures don’t apply in its markets. On AC it takes up to 11 kW, about 6 hours 12 minutes from empty. On DC it peaks at 88 kW, with 10–80% in roughly 40 minutes. Sources disagree on that peak. One UK report says 80 kW, and a dealer sheet lists 150 kW, which doesn’t match BYD’s numbers. I’d treat both as unconfirmed.
UK launch price was £30,195. Dealers now list it lower, from about £29,195. Belgian pricing starts at €29,000 with VAT, while an Irish dealer asks €33,110. Some UK dealers also list a Comfort with a 43 kWh battery and 115 kW motor, so check the spec on any 2026 car. It makes sense as a commuter car or a fleet vehicle with about 400 km of range. Internally it sits between the Dolphin Surf and the Atto 3. Outside BYD, the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault 5 E-Tech are the obvious rivals. The MG4 is the closest match on spec and price. At launch it cost about £800 more than the Dolphin’s smaller-battery trims, though it offered more power and range.
