  2. Blade battery safety and thermal stability.

CONS

  1. Real-world range often lower than advertised.
  2. Charging network support varies by region and might not match Tesla.

The BYD Seal (also known globally as Atto 4) is a fully electric sedan. It sits in the mid-size EV segment with a traditional four-door body and seating for five. It uses BYD’s modern e-platform and Blade battery technology.

Battery options include a 61.4 kWh pack for base models and an 82.5–82 kWh pack for long-range versions. The larger battery version delivers roughly 570 to 570+ km WLTP/NEDC-aligned range on a full charge. DC fast charging supports up to 150 kW, reaching approximately 30–80 percent in about 25-35 minutes. AC home charging is typically around 11 kW.

Price varies by market. In some regions the Seal is priced from around $49,000 USD for base variants to over $60,000 USD for higher trims. It suits buyers seeking a mid-size EV sedan with balanced range, performance, and tech at a competitive price. Two alternatives are the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6. In direct comparison with the Model 3, the Seal typically offers lower starting price with similar range figures but less developed charging network

FAQ

What range should you expect in normal use?

Official figures use WLTP/NEDC cycles. Real range in traffic/climate use is usually lower.

Does the Seal support fast charging?

Yes. DC charging up to 150 kW supports quick top-ups to around 80 percent.

How long to charge at home?

Using an 11 kW AC wallbox, full charge overnight is typical.

Is BYD Seal worth it for city and highway use?

It suits both. Range and comfort work for daily and longer drives, but plan stops on long trips to match charging access.
