The BYD Atto 3 — sold domestically in China as the Yuan Plus — is a mid-segment compact electric crossover produced by BYD Auto. The third-generation model launched in China on May 21, 2026 in four variants, built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture with second-generation Blade Battery technology. It is a rear-wheel-drive five-door crossover — a platform shift from the front-wheel-drive layout of the outgoing generation — and is the first Atto 3 to offer flash charging and an optional lidar-equipped driver-assistance system.
Battery options are 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh second-generation Blade Battery packs. CLTC-rated range is 540 km on the base battery and 630 km on the larger pack, depending on trim. All figures are on the CLTC cycle; WLTP equivalents have not been published at the time of writing and are expected to be approximately 15–20% lower. Power comes from a rear-mounted motor rated at either 200 kW or 240 kW. The car supports BYD’s flash-charging technology; however, the peak DC charging rate in kilowatts and a 10–80% time benchmark have not been officially confirmed in available specifications at launch — treat flash-charging performance claims as unconfirmed until BYD publishes a full technical datasheet. AC onboard charging rate has also not been disclosed in launch materials.
Pricing in China runs from 119,900 yuan ($16,600 USD) for the 540KM Leading variant to 149,900 yuan ($20,800 USD) for the 630KM Excellence. For Nigerian buyers, no direct import pricing exists; at the current exchange rate, grey-market landed cost is estimated at approximately ₦27–35 million depending on trim, shipping, and clearing — unconfirmed. The Atto 3 targets urban family buyers and daily commuters seeking a spacious, feature-loaded compact crossover at a competitive price point. Within BYD’s lineup it sits above the Dolphin and below the Sea Lion 6. Externally, its direct rivals in the Chinese market are the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro EV and the SAIC MG ZS EV, with the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro EV being the closest match on price and segment.
