Smart Technology Backed by Huawei
Serving as the “smart” counterpart to the sporty Deepal SL03, the Deepal L07 features Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving system, a product of the Changan-Huawei collaboration signed in November 2023. This partnership focuses on next-generation driving assistance and smart connectivity, ensuring the L07 delivers a modern, tech-forward driving experience.
Naming Strategy and Market Placement
The L07’s introduction has caused some confusion, as the SL03 is marketed as the L07 in Thailand. Industry speculation suggests Deepal may adopt a new naming convention: “L0” for sedans and “S0” for SUVs. Despite this, Deepal CEO Deng Chenghao confirmed that both the SL03 and L07 will coexist, giving customers a choice between sporty and smart sedans.
Sleek Design and Spacious Dimensions
Visually, the Deepal L07 builds on the SL03’s design language with:
- A bold, curved front end
- Full-width taillight with illuminated Deepal logo
- Electrically operated rear wing
Measuring 4.87 m long, 1.89 m wide, and 1.48 m tall, the L07 is slightly longer than the SL03, while the wheelbase remains 2.9 m. Its curb weight ranges from 1,865 kg to 1,880 kg, depending on the model.
Powertrain Options: EV and EREV
The Deepal L07 offers two distinct powertrains:
- EV variant: 185 kW electric motor for brisk acceleration and responsive performance
- EREV variant: Combines a 72 kW 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 160 kW electric motor, offering extended range and reduced emissions
Both versions use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, known for durability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Market Outlook and Features
