The Abarth 500e is a front-wheel-drive electric hatchback built on the Fiat 500e platform, producing 114 kW and 235 Nm. It carries a 42 kWh battery with a 252 km WLTP range, charges at up to 85 kW DC, and starts from €36,900 in Europe. It is Abarth’s first all-electric production vehicle.

What Is the Abarth 500e?

The Abarth 500e is a front-wheel-drive electric hot hatch made by Abarth, Stellantis’s Italian performance sub-brand. It comes as a two-door hatchback, with a cabriolet version sold in select European markets. It is built on the same platform as the Fiat 500e but carries a higher-output motor, three dedicated drive modes, and an artificial sound generator that replicates a petrol Abarth engine tone. The 500e is Abarth’s first fully electric production model.

Abarth 500e Range and Charging Speed

The 42 kWh battery delivers 252 km of WLTP-rated range on the hatchback. That figure applies to mixed urban and road driving under European test conditions — real-world motorway range will be shorter. The cabriolet version is rated at 250 km WLTP.

Charging specs:

  • AC onboard: 11 kW max — full charge in approximately 4 hours 30 minutes via wallbox
  • DC fast charging: 85 kW peak — 0 to 80% in 35 minutes
  • Home socket (slow): 15+ hours from empty

The 85 kW DC rate is competitive for a city car. The 42 kWh figure is gross capacity — Abarth has not officially published usable capacity.

Abarth 500e Price and Rivals

MarketPrice
Europe (launch)From €36,900
Australia (Turismo)AUD $58,900 before on-roads
Australia (Scorpionissima)AUD $60,500 before on-roads

No official UK, US, or African market pricing has been announced. Grey-market import estimates will vary by country and import duty structure.

The 500e suits urban drivers who want a performance character in a compact format. It is not suited to long-distance use or buyers prioritising range above all else.

Within Stellantis: sits above the standard Fiat 500e in price and output, with no higher Abarth variant currently above it.

External rivals: Mini Cooper SE, Renault 5 E-Tech.

Closest comparison: Mini Cooper SE — similar size, segment, and urban brief, though the Mini’s larger-battery variant offers longer range.
