GAC Aion V vs GAC Aion N60

Both the GAC Aion V and GAC Aion N60 are battery-electric SUVs from GAC Aion, the EV arm of China’s state-owned GAC Group, but they target very different buyers. The Aion V is a mid-size family SUV already exported to Thailand, Indonesia, Europe, the UK, and Australia with a 75.3kWh LFP battery. The N60 is a smaller, tech-loaded urban crossover that replaces the aging Aion Y Plus and, as of mid-2026, sells only in China. This comparison matters now because GAC’s growing export footprint with the V raises real questions about whether either model could realistically reach Nigerian, Kenyan, or South African buyers through grey-market import channels in the near term.

GAC Aion V vs GAC Aion N60

Range & Charging. The Aion V carries a WLTP-claimed range of 510km, and independent testing came close to that figure, with real-world consumption around 15-16kWh per 100km suggesting 460-495km in mixed driving. DC fast charging peaks at 180kW with a claimed 10-80% charge in around 24 minutes, while AC home charging tops out at 11kW for an 8.5-hour full charge. The N60 is rated on the CLTC cycle (typically more generous than WLTP) across three battery trims offering 410km, 510km, or 610km of electric range. Per-trim battery capacities for the 510km and 610km versions aren’t fully confirmed. DC charging moves the entry trim from 30 to 80 percent in roughly 25 minutes, with AC charging from empty to full taking about 7.5 hours.

Price, Availability & Market Fit. The Aion V starts at AUD 42,590 (Premium) and AUD 44,590 (Luxury) before on-road costs in Australia — roughly ₦38-40 million at current naira rates, before shipping or duties. No African launch has been confirmed. The N60 opened pre-sales in China at 115,800 to 135,800 yuan (about $16,000-18,800 USD) across three variants, putting it nearer ₦22-26 million equivalent — but only inside China for now. If your budget caps around ₦25-26 million and city driving dominates, the N60’s tech-heavy entry trim fits. If family space and a proven export track record matter more, the V is the safer grey-import bet.

Ecosystem & Rivals. Within GAC’s own lineup, the Aion i60 offers up to 650km on the EV variant or 1,240km combined on the range-extended version, appealing to the same family-SUV shopper as the V but with a petrol backstop. The N60 directly succeeds the Aion Y Plus, long popular with ride-hailing drivers. Outside GAC, the BYD Atto 3 and Geely EX5 compete in both price bands. Neither rival matches the V’s range-and-equipment combination at similar money, and neither offers the N60’s standard LiDAR at its price point.

Pros & Cons. The Aion V offers confirmed real-world range close to its WLTP claim, faster DC charging for time-pressed top-ups, and an established multi-market export history that gives grey-import buyers more confidence in parts and documentation. Its drawbacks are a high entry price for the African market and zero official local warranty support. The N60 offers standard LiDAR and radar that undercut pricier rivals, three range options to match different commutes, and quick 25-minute DC top-ups suited to ride-hailing use. Its drawbacks are a China-only sales footprint with no export timeline, and CLTC range figures that likely overstate real-world performance.

Quick Verdict: Choose the Aion V if you prioritize confirmed real-world range and fast charging backed by multi-market export history. Choose the Aion N60 if a lower entry price and class-leading standard tech matter more than confirmed availability outside China. Neither has official African distribution yet, so either purchase today means navigating the grey-market import process, not a backed local warranty.
