Lucid Earth: The Next $50,000 Electric SUV from Lucid Motors

0

With the Lucid Air luxury sedan and the Lucid Gravity SUV, Lucid Motors has already created a stir. The company is now getting ready for its next big move: a new midsize EV platform that will launch with the Lucid Earth, a reasonably priced electric SUV that will go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y.

What is the Lucid Earth?

The Lucid Earth, which is anticipated to retail for approximately $50,000, will be the brand’s first midsize electric SUV. In an indication that it intends to make Earth the focal point of its next-generation lineup, Lucid has already submitted a trademark application for the name. In addition to the Earth SUV, Lucid intends to introduce:

  • Lucid Earth X (off-road variant): A rugged SUV inspired by the role of the Gravity X concept for the Gravity.
  • Midsize Lucid Sedan: A Tesla Model 3 rival expected to follow after the Earth SUV.

Production Timeline

According to Lucid’s interim CEO, Marc Winterhoff, here’s the planned rollout schedule:

  • Late 2026: Lucid Earth enters production.
  • Early 2027: Off-road Lucid Earth X launches.
  • By end of 2028: New midsize Lucid sedan arrives.

This aggressive timeline shows Lucid’s determination to expand beyond the luxury market and into more accessible price ranges.

Built for the Future

The company’s new Saudi Arabian factory will produce all three of the new Lucid models. For fleet applications, the Lucid Earth’s midsize platform is also being considered. Notably, the Earth and its variations may power Uber’s upcoming robotaxi service thanks to Lucid’s recent partnership with the company.

Why the Lucid Earth Matters

For Lucid Motors, the Lucid Earth marks a significant turning point. The Earth is targeted at the mass-market EV market, directly challenging Tesla’s hegemony with the Model Y and Model 3, while the Air and Gravity are intended for luxury consumers. The Earth might end up being Lucid’s most significant model to date if it can provide competitive features, range, and pricing.
