Shipments of the Lucid Air Sapphire begin.

Lucid Motors announced the start of mass production of the new Lucid Air Sapphire version about a week ago, following the unveiling of the vehicle about two months ago. First deliveries of the high-performance luxury sedans have begun.

At the Sonoma Raceway in California, where the first Lucids were delivered, the company celebrated with a test drive by special guest Ben Collins. The number of Sapphires manufactured and delivered to customers was not disclosed by the manufacturer; however, at least five units are visible in user-submitted photos on X (formerly known as Twitter).

What was once a pipe dream is now available to the public. After much anticipation, Lucid released its quickest and most luxurious sedan to date. In comparison to Tesla’s Model S Plaid, the Sapphire edition’s 0-62 mph time of 1.89 seconds is lightning fast thanks to its three electric motors’ combined 1,234 hp. But it’s not just quick; it can also be quite durable. The enormous 118 kWh battery pack provides an outstanding 3.61 miles/kWh efficiency, enough to last you 427 miles.

The Lucid Air Sapphire costs an exorbitant $249,000, but it comes with a number of upgrades over the base Dream Edition, including stronger motors, retuned suspension, and steering, carbon ceramic brakes, new wheels, sports seats with a massage function, etc.
