The Luxeed V9 minivan, developed by Huawei and Chery, is set to enter the Chinese market in spring 2026. The model is positioned as a technical flagship and is expected to introduce a major safety first for mass-produced vehicles.
Luxeed operates as a joint brand between Huawei and Chery under the HIMA alliance. The brand launched in 2023 and currently sells two models, the S7 sedan and the R7 SUV, both offered with BEV and EREV powertrains. Data from China EV DataTracker shows Luxeed delivered 81,391 vehicles between January and November 2025. The upcoming V9 marks the brand’s entry into the premium MPV segment.
Industry-First Helmet Airbag Integrated Into Seats

According to Weibo blogger Hai Daxing ECC, the Luxeed V9 will feature an industry-first helmet airbag integrated directly into the seats. During a collision, the seats pull back into a safer position while the helmet airbag deploys alongside side airbags. This setup aims to improve head, neck, and spine protection during impacts.
The underlying seat technology was first introduced in 2023 by Yanfeng Automotive Interior Systems. Yanfeng supplies interior systems to major automakers, including Volkswagen, BMW, Toyota, GM, BYD, Geely, and GAC. The seat design supports large-angle reclining, rotation, and extended sliding while maintaining structural safety.

Advanced Seat Safety Technology
Yanfeng engineers placed strong emphasis on occupant safety. The seat uses a pre-crash quick-return system that moves the seat back to an upright position before impact. It receives early warnings from ADAS systems and adjusts in advance.
The seat also integrates the seat belt and a pre-embedded airbag. This airbag deploys early during a collision, reducing forward movement and lowering stress on the lower back. Several other Weibo sources previously hinted at these safety innovations, though Luxeed has not issued official confirmation yet.
Platform, Size, and Interior Highlights
The Luxeed V9 is built on Chery’s E0X or E0X-L modular architecture. This platform already underpins models such as the Exlantix ET, Exlantix ES, and other Luxeed vehicles. The V9 features a stretched wheelbase and a body length exceeding 5.3 meters, placing it firmly in the large MPV category.
Reports indicate the V9 will use a Huawei-developed powertrain and lighting system. Interior highlights include large passenger displays, a built-in refrigerator, an oxygen concentrator, and a new 192-line LiDAR sensor. The second row features two independent zero-gravity seats designed for long-distance comfort. The front trunk adds an electric pop-up and soft-close function.
Powertrain, Battery, and Driving Technology
The Luxeed V9 adopts an 800V high-voltage electrical system and Huawei’s Qiankun Advanced Driving System. The vehicle is rated as L3-ready, signaling advanced assisted driving capability.
Both pure electric and extended-range electric versions are planned. CATL will supply battery packs for both configurations. With its focus on safety innovation, premium comfort, and advanced driving systems, the Luxeed V9 aims to strengthen Huawei and Chery’s position in the high-end electric MPV market.
