The Polestar 6 is an upcoming AWD dual-motor electric roadster from Polestar, the Swedish performance EV brand co-owned by Volvo Cars and Geely. It is the brand’s flagship model — positioned above the Polestar 3 SUV and the Polestar 5 GT — and one of the few production electric convertibles confirmed by a mainstream manufacturer. Based on the O2 concept unveiled in Los Angeles in March 2022, the Polestar 6 uses a 2+2 hard-top convertible body on a bonded aluminum platform. As of early 2026, Polestar confirmed the production timeline has been delayed while the brand prioritizes higher-volume models, including a Polestar 2 successor.
The Polestar 6 uses an 800-volt electric architecture shared with the Polestar 5, paired with a dual-motor AWD setup. Based on concept-stage previews — not yet confirmed for production — the powertrain is rated at 884 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, with a 0–60 mph target of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.
Battery capacity has not been published. Polestar’s stated range target is over 300 miles on a full charge; no EPA or WLTP certification figure has been released for the production model. A figure of 373 miles WLTP has appeared in third-party coverage but has not been verified by Polestar — treat it as unconfirmed.
AC onboard charging rate and DC peak charging speed have not been specified. The 800V platform supports high-speed DC charging, but no 10–80% benchmark has been published. Confirmed charging figures will be added when Polestar releases production specifications.
The Polestar 6 LA Concept edition is priced at $200,000 in the United States, limited to 500 units, with a $25,000 reservation deposit. Standard production variants are expected to be cheaper, but Polestar has not confirmed pricing for the general lineup.
The car was originally scheduled to launch in 2026. That timeline has since been pushed back. Polestar has confirmed the model remains planned but has not announced a revised production date.
The Polestar 6 suits a narrow buyer profile: performance enthusiasts who specifically want open-top EV driving and are comfortable with a brand that lacks an official dealer network across most markets. At $200,000, it is not a volume product — and with production delayed, any buyer tracking it needs to account for an uncertain delivery window.
Within the Polestar lineup, the 6 sits above the Polestar 5 four-door performance GT and the Polestar 3 SUV. Neither offers a convertible body or comparable power output, so the 6 does not cannibalize either model directly.
Externally, the closest rival is the Tesla Roadster, also priced around $200,000 and also delayed as of mid-2026. The Lotus Evija is a reference point in the ultra-performance electric segment, though it is a closed-body coupe and significantly more expensive. For a direct comparison, the Polestar 6 vs. Tesla Roadster framing is most relevant — both target the same buyer, carry similar price tags, and neither is in customer hands yet.
