The BMW i7 LCI — formally the 2026 BMW 7 Series G70 LCI — is the mid-cycle facelift of BMW’s fully electric flagship sedan, built at the Dingolfing plant in Germany. It sits at the top of BMW’s passenger car range, occupying the full-size luxury sedan segment alongside internal combustion and plug-in hybrid 7 Series variants. Unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show on April 22, 2026, the LCI refresh remakes the i7 in the image of BMW’s Neue Klasse design direction, making it one of the first legacy flagship sedans to adopt next-generation cylindrical cell battery technology at this scale.
The LCI i7 uses a 112.5 kWh net battery — up from 101.7 kWh in the pre-facelift model — powered by Gen6 cylindrical cells co-developed with Rimac and assembled in Croatia before the cars are completed in Dingolfing. The energy density gain is approximately 20% over the previous prismatic cells. WLTP-rated range figures stand at 708 km for the i7 50 xDrive, 707 km for the i7 60 xDrive, and 650 km for the performance-oriented M70 xDrive — all measured on the WLTP cycle. DC fast charging peaks at 250 kW, up from 195 kW in the outgoing model. Notably, this improvement was achieved by raising the amperage to 630A rather than switching to an 800-volt architecture — the i7 LCI remains a 400-volt system. AC onboard charging rates have not been officially confirmed for the LCI at the time of writing. A 10–80% charge benchmark has not yet been published; expect figures to appear closer to market launch, currently targeted from July 2026, when LCI production starts.
Pricing for the LCI generation has not been officially announced. The outgoing pre-facelift 2026 i7 carried a US MSRP starting at $105,700 for the entry rear-wheel drive eDrive50, $124,200 for the xDrive60, and $160,075 for the M70 — with LCI pricing expected to carry modest adjustments at announcement. Nigeria and West Africa pricing, where the model is available through grey import channels, typically adds 30–45% to the base US or European figure once duties, shipping, and clearing costs are factored in, placing the i7 LCI well above ₦200 million in practical market terms. The realistic buyer is a corporate executive, high-net-worth individual, or chauffeur-fleet operator for whom rear-seat comfort and long-distance range take priority over price sensitivity. Within BMW’s lineup, the i7 sits above the i5 mid-size electric sedan and shares its segment position with the ICE-powered 760i xDrive. External competition includes the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan and the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo in its top-tier configuration. The closest direct comparison by spec and segment is the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC, which targets a nearly identical buyer profile at overlapping price points.
