BYD has officially teased the Song Ultra EV, a new mid-size electric crossover for the Chinese market. The model appeared earlier in regulatory filings and is now confirmed ahead of its market debut. The Song Ultra EV delivers up to 270 kW of power and becomes a key addition to BYD’s growing electric lineup.
BYD Song lineup expands again
The BYD Song name started as a single SUV but has grown into a full sub-brand. Current models include the Song Pro DM-i, Song L EV, and Song L DM-i. The Song Plus, sold globally as the Sealion 6 and Seal U, recently exited the Chinese market. The Song Ultra EV now fills the gap as a larger, all-electric option within the series.

First official teaser confirms launch plans
On February 4, BYD released the first official teaser image of the Song Ultra EV. The company confirmed it as the first B-segment all-electric SUV under the Dynasty series, which also includes Han, Tang, Yuan, and Xia models. This confirms the Song Ultra EV is close to its official launch in China.
Design and exterior highlights
The Song Ultra EV closely matches the Song L DM-i in size and overall shape. It shares similar headlights, rear bumper design, and taillight layout. Key differences appear at the front, where the EV adopts BYD’s updated Loong Face design with a sport-focused bumper. Flush door handles improve aerodynamics, while an optional roof-mounted LiDAR sensor points to advanced driver assistance features.

Size and platform details
The BYD Song Ultra EV measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. This makes it 70 mm longer than the Song L DM-i and 115 mm longer than the Song Pro DM-i. Curb weight ranges from 1,990 to 2,050 kg, depending on configuration.
Powertrain and performance
BYD offers the Song Ultra EV with two electric motor options.
The base version produces 239 kW, or 320 hp.
The higher-output version delivers 270 kW, or 362 hp, with a top speed of 210 km/h.
Both variants use BYD’s LFP Blade battery technology. Battery capacity and driving range remain undisclosed.
What to expect next
BYD has yet to confirm pricing, range figures, or full feature details. More official information is expected closer to the Song Ultra EV’s market launch.
