CONS

  1. Limited Availability
  2. Infrastructure Dependency

The Jeep New Compass Electric is a compact five-door crossover SUV from Jeep (Stellantis), built on the STLA Medium platform and offered as a full battery-electric vehicle for the first time in the nameplate’s history. It launched in Europe in mid-2025 with front-wheel drive; an AWD variant is confirmed for 2026. At 4,552 mm long with a 2,795 mm wheelbase, the New Compass is significantly larger than the second-generation model currently sold in North America.

Battery, Range, and Charging

The launch FWD variant carries a 73.7 kWh usable battery (79.9 kWh nominal), using NMC prismatic cells on a 400-volt architecture. Jeep’s official WLTP range figure is 500 km (311 miles).

Motor output is 157 kW (213 hp) with 345 Nm of torque. The 0–100 km/h time is 8.5 seconds, and top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

For charging:

  • AC onboard: 11 kW standard; 22 kW three-phase optional
  • DC fast charge peak: 160 kW via CCS
  • 10–80% charge time: approximately 36 minutes at a compatible DC station

A higher-output 170 kW FWD variant with a larger battery and a claimed WLTP range of 650 km is listed for future availability, followed by a 276 kW AWD model later in 2026. Production-level specs for both remain unconfirmed.

Price and Market Availability

In the UK, the Compass Electric starts at £36,999. In Germany, the Altitude trim opens at €47,900, with the First Edition at €50,400.

There is no official pricing for African markets. The Compass Electric has no formal dealer presence in Nigeria, Kenya, or South Africa. Access in these markets is currently limited to grey-market imports from Europe, where landed costs — factoring shipping, port charges, and import duties — would push the total above ₦60 million in Nigeria at current exchange rates.

Who It Is For

The Compass Electric targets compact-family and suburban drivers who want Jeep’s brand identity and trail-rated positioning in a fully electric package used primarily on-road. The Selec-Terrain system comes standard, and ground clearance is 200 mm with 470 mm water fording — practical specs for buyers who occasionally leave sealed roads.

How It Fits Into the Jeep Lineup

Within Jeep’s electric range, the Compass Electric sits directly above the subcompact Jeep Avenger and well below the larger Jeep Wagoneer S.

Key Rivals to Consider

Volkswagen ID.4MEB~550 km~€42,995
Jeep Compass ElectricSTLA Medium500 km£36,999 / €47,900

The closest direct comparison is the Peugeot e-3008. Both sit on the same STLA Medium architecture at similar price points; the differences come down to brand positioning, interior character, and off-road capability. The VW ID.4 is the other benchmark for buyers shopping across European compact electric SUVs.
