Mitsubishi continues to expand its electric vehicle strategy through new global partnerships. After teaming up with Nissan in the United States to share EV platforms and infrastructure, the brand has chosen a different partner for Australia.
For its upcoming electric hatchback, Mitsubishi will work with Foxtron, the automotive arm of Foxconn. Foxconn is best known as the manufacturer behind products such as the iPhone, but it has been moving deeper into electric vehicle development.

Mitsubishi EV Expected to Be Based on Foxtron Bria
According to reports, the new Mitsubishi electric hatchback will be largely based on the Foxtron Bria platform. This suggests shared hardware and core technology, with Mitsubishi focusing on brand-specific tuning and exterior design.
Foxtron Bria Performance and Powertrain Details
The Bria platform offers two powertrain configurations.
The base model uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing 220 horsepower.
The all-wheel drive version increases output to 400 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Battery, Range, and Charging
Both versions use a 57.5 kWh battery pack. Under the NEDC cycle, the claimed range reaches 321 miles. Real-world EPA figures are expected to be lower once officially tested.
Fast charging is rated at up to 134 kW. The battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes, which aligns with current compact EV standards.
Design and Mitsubishi Branding
Mitsubishi is expected to apply its own exterior styling and design cues. This will help differentiate the model visually from the Foxtron Bria, even though the underlying platform remains shared.
Launch Timeline and Market Availability
The new Mitsubishi electric hatchback is scheduled to arrive in Australia in the second half of this year. Mitsubishi has not confirmed plans for other markets at this stage.
