The Nio ET5T — also marketed as the ET5 Touring — is a compact executive station wagon produced by Chinese automaker Nio Inc. It sits on the NT 2.0/NT 2.5 platform and occupies the entry tier of Nio’s passenger car range, positioned below the ES6 SUV and EC6 coupe-SUV within the brand’s “5566” lineup. The ET5T comes standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, making it one of the few all-electric station wagons sold in both China and European markets — a body style with very few direct EV competitors globally. Nio launched the 2026 model-year version on April 2, 2026, with prices held unchanged and updates focused on cabin comfort, ADAS status signalling, and a nature-themed special edition, stopping short of powertrain or platform changes.
Powertrain & Charging
The ET5T is available with two battery options. Under the WLTP test cycle, the vehicle’s range varies between 560 and 540 km (348–336 miles) depending on configuration and wheel size. The standard pack is a 75 kWh unit with a usable capacity of 70.5 kWh; the upper option is a 100 kWh NMC pack. For AC charging, the onboard charger accepts up to 11 kW via a three-phase Type 2 connector. DC fast charging peaks at 140 kW on the 75 kWh variant and 180 kW on the 100 kWh variant, with a 10–80% charge completing in approximately 29–30 minutes. The ET5T also supports Nio’s proprietary battery swap network, which allows a full pack exchange in under five minutes at compatible swap stations — though swap station availability outside China remains limited. CLTC range figures cited for the Chinese market (710 km / 441 miles on the 100 kWh pack) should not be compared directly with WLTP figures, as CLTC consistently returns higher numbers under less demanding test conditions.
Pricing, Fit & Context
In China, the ET5T is priced at CNY 298,000 (approximately $43,300) including the battery pack, or CNY 190,000 (approximately $27,600) under Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service lease plan, which separates vehicle body cost from battery ownership. In Europe, pricing starts at approximately €47,500 for the body only, with the 100 kWh battery variant reaching €68,500 in Germany. Nigerian or broader African grey-market availability is unconfirmed; no authorised Nio distributor currently operates in West Africa, and import pricing would vary significantly based on origin market and duty structures.
The ET5T realistically suits small families or professionals who need wagon boot space alongside strong EV performance credentials and are based in markets with Nio’s charging or swap infrastructure. Within the Nio range, it sits alongside the ET5 sedan at the same price point, with the ES6 SUV starting above it at CNY 338,000 (~$49,100). External rivals in the same segment and price band include the Polestar 2 and the BMW i4 Touring, both offering comparable performance at similar or slightly lower European pricing. The closest single-model comparison for spec and price is the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, which matches the ET5T on AWD configuration, WLTP range bracket, and European market pricing

| Editor's Note | Specs marked "not confirmed" or "not published" are genuinely absent from official sources as of this date — do not substitute estimates. WLTP figures apply to European-spec vehicles. CLTC figures are China-market ratings and run approximately 20–25% higher than WLTP under real-world conditions. The 2026 model-year refresh (April 2026) adds no powertrain changes; core performance specs are unchanged from the May 2025 facelift. |
