The Ora 5 EV crossover from GWM launched in China with a starting price of 99,800 yuan (14,160 USD) and no limited-time discounts. This 4.4-meter, five-seat urban vehicle features a 150 kW (201 hp) electric motor and offers a range of up to 580 km. GWM plans to expand the lineup later with HEV, PHEV, and ICE powertrain options.
Ora debuted in China as a battery-electric brand under Great Wall Motor in 2018. The automaker aimed to strengthen its position in the NEV segment. Early challenges included a failed Ole Sharing service and two unprofitable models.

According to China EV DataTracker, Ora delivered 27,958 units in China from January to November 2025, reflecting a 38.71% YoY decline. The brand had not introduced all-new cars for three years.
On December 16, Ora representatives announced a reboot of the brand. Future plans include selling hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and petrol-powered vehicles. The Ora 5 EV crossover is the first model in this renewed lineup.
Ora 5 EV Crossover Features and Design
The Ora 5 shares a playful design with the Ora Funky Cat (03/Good Cat) hatchback but stands out as a larger urban crossover. Its dimensions measure 4471/1833/1641 mm with a 2,720 mm wheelbase. The interior includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, Coffee OS 3 infotainment system, voice interaction, wireless phone charging, and a two-spoke steering wheel with physical controls. The gear shifter is positioned on the steering column.

Powertrain and Pricing
Currently, the Ora 5 EV crossover is available in China as a BEV variant with a single 150 kW electric motor. Two SVOLT LFP battery packs (45.3 and 58.3 kWh) provide ranges of 480 km and 580 km under CLTC standards. Future PHEV, HEV, and ICE versions will offer additional options, including a 1.5-liter turbo hybrid with 179 kW (240 hp) and a 1.5-liter ICE with 130 kW (174 hp) paired with a 7DCT.
The BEV is offered in five trims. Top variants feature LiDAR sensors. Prices for the Ora 5 models are:
Ora 5 480 km Air – 99,800 yuan (14,160 USD)
Ora 5 480 km Pro – 109,800 yuan (15,580 USD)
Ora 5 580 km Max – 119,800 yuan (17,000 USD)
Ora 5 480 km LiDAR – 123,800 yuan (17,570 USD)
Ora 5 580 km LiDAR – 133,800 yuan (18,990 USD)
The Ora 5 EV crossover marks a critical step in GWM’s strategy to revitalize the Ora brand. Its range, urban-focused design, and future hybrid options make it a strong contender in China’s EV market.
