Toyota bZ3X in Mainland China vs. Hong Kong/Macau

With a starting price of 109,800 yuan (USD 15,100), the Toyota bZ3X made its debut in mainland China in March 2025 through the GAC-Toyota joint venture. There were several battery configurations available:

  • 50.0 kWh pack – 430 km CLTC range
  • 58.4 kWh pack – 520 km CLTC range
  • 67.9 kWh pack – 610 km CLTC range

Navigate on Autopilot without HD maps was made possible by the inclusion of Robosense lidar and Momenta 5.0 ADAS in the top trims.

The Hong Kong/Macau version most closely resembles the 520 Pro+ trim but uses a larger 70.0 kWh battery, retains the 150 kW motor, and adds premium features like the YAMAHA audio system and panoramic roof. It excludes the lidar-assisted driving and higher-output 165 kW motor found in the 610 Max trim, though.

Price comparison:

  • Mainland China 520 Pro+: 139,800 yuan (USD 22,445)

  • Macau RHD version: 259,000 HKD (USD 33,100)

This represents about a 47% price increase due to regional taxes, RHD production scale, and market positioning.

Toyota bZ3X Global Outlook

The right-hand drive (RHD) market expansion into Japan, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore is also made possible by the introduction of the Toyota bZ3X in Hong Kong and Macau. This action demonstrates Toyota’s plan to expand its range of electric SUVs globally while adjusting to various driving systems across the globe.
