Volkswagen will stop assembling the ID.4 at its Chattanooga, Tennessee plant in mid-April, ending U.S. production of the model entirely. It’s the company’s only factory on American soil.
The ID.4 was also the last EV Volkswagen was actively selling in the U.S. The ID. Buzz won’t arrive until 2027, leaving the brand with no new electric vehicles on American lots in the interim.

Existing ID.4 inventory will remain on sale — and VW says supply is expected to stretch into next year, which tells you something about how the current generation has been moving off lots.
A redesigned ID.4 for North America is in the works. VW hasn’t said anything beyond that, promising more details later.
If you’ve been sitting on the fence about buying a new current-gen ID.4, the clock is now ticking.
